A portico is architecture's frame around a door, and garland belongs on it. Here the lit evergreen runs along the entablature and spirals down both columns. The wreath above the door and the wreaths in the four ground-floor windows repeat it.
The urns at the steps bring the scheme to street level with spruce tips and white birch.
The Elevation
- 1Portico garland. Lit, along the top edge of the portico.
- 2Column spirals. The same garland wrapped down each column in four even turns.
- 3Door wreath. A large lit wreath above the door.
- 4Window wreaths. Lit wreaths in the four ground-floor windows.
- 5Winter urns. Black urns with lit spruce and birch fillers.

Designer's Notes
Installation
Wrap the columns from the top down with the plug end at the base, then run the portico garland to meet them. Use battery-operated wreaths in the windows so no cords cross the brick.
Light
Warm white only. The wreaths' lights should match the garland's; the lantern over the door stays on as the key light.
Budget
Tier III ($800 and up): about $1,040 for everything on the list below at today's prices.
