A Nordic porch is about subtraction. Pale grey board-and-batten, a natural oak door, and a plain eucalyptus wreath with no bow. Two potted spruces stand in white planters, and everything else is white or wood.
The sled and the sheepskin are not decoration. They are things you would actually have on a porch in snow country, and that is the point.
The Plan
- 1Eucalyptus wreath. No bow, no lights. Silver-dollar eucalyptus over a grapevine form.
- 2Potted spruces. In white planters, one each side of the door. Wrap them in tiny warm lights for evening.
- 3Wooden sled. Leaning against the wall at the left.
- 4White lantern group. Four lanterns of different heights grouped at the left of the step, LED pillars inside so they can stay out in snow.
- 5Bench and sheepskin. A pale wood bench at the right.
- 6Steps. Shoveled, salted, clear.
