Modern farmhouse is a black-and-white architecture, so its Christmas should be green and warm white, nothing more. A lit wreath on the black door, a lit spruce in a tall black planter at each side, and one line of warm icicles along the porch eave.
The plaid blanket on the bench is the only pattern on the porch, and it gets to be red.
The Plan
- 1Lit door wreath. Full evergreen with warm lights, on an over-the-door hanger.
- 2Planters with lit spruces. Tall black planters, one each side of the door.
- 3Icicle lights. One continuous run along the porch roof edge, set to warm white.
- 4Black lanterns. A pair at each end of the porch, LED candles inside.
- 5Bench and plaid blanket. Black bench under the right window.
- 6Steps. Wide wooden steps, kept clear.
