This is the Christmas version of a processional. A bluestone walk leads to a brick Georgian, with lit spruces in square black planters along the way: one large one on the left and a group of three on the right. Two black posts mark the start, and two warm-white wire reindeer stand on the right lawn as an audience.
It is not symmetrical, and it doesn't need to be. The garland around the door gives the route its destination.
The Plan
- 1Lit spruces in black planters. One large planter at the left of the walk and three at the right, each tree wrapped in warm mini lights.
- 2Lantern posts. Two black bollard posts mark the start of the walk.
- 3Small lanterns. Two at the base of the right-hand planters.
- 4Wire reindeer. Two warm-white figures on the right lawn.
- 5Door garland. Lit evergreen framing the door.

Designer's Notes
Installation
Set the planters first and stake every cord along the bed edge, never across the walk. Wrap each tree from the base in a spiral, about 100 lights per foot of height.
Light
All warm white. The reindeer sit at the same color as the trees so the lawn reads as one scene.
Budget
Tier III ($800 and up): about $840 for everything on the list below at today's prices.
