The kitchen is where Thanksgiving actually happens, so its decor has to survive cooking. Everything lives on the island's centerline, low and loose: a runner of eucalyptus, two crocks of dried wheat on the counter behind, small heirloom pumpkins and a bowl of apples you can actually eat.
The glass pendants and the copper on the shelves give the warm notes. The decor stays green, cream and wheat.
The Plan
- 1Eucalyptus runner. Laid directly on the oak, no cloth.
- 2Dried wheat in crocks. Two bundles in stoneware crocks on the back counter, framing the island from behind.
- 3Heirloom pumpkins. Small cream and pale green, grouped at both ends.
- 4Bowl of apples. A wooden bowl, real fruit.
- 5Glass pendants. Existing fixtures; a warm 2700K bulb makes the scheme.
- 6Counter stools. Leave them clear; this is a working island.
